AirPods Max — CGI Product Visualisation Study
This self-initiated project explores how CGI can be used to present an iconic consumer product through a premium, design-led visual language.

About the project
Rather than recreating traditional product photography, the aim was to develop a series of cinematic product visuals that emphasise material quality, form and craftsmanship
Every image was carefully composed to highlight the distinctive aluminium ear cups, stainless steel frame and soft textile materials that define the AirPods Max.
The project demonstrates how high-end CGI enables complete creative control over lighting, materials and composition, producing visuals that would be difficult or costly to achieve through conventional photography.

Challanges
The success of this project relied on capturing the subtle material characteristics that give the product its premium appearance.
AirPods Max combines multiple surface finishes, including anodised aluminium, woven mesh, silicone and polished stainless steel, each of which responds differently to light. Achieving believable material contrast while maintaining a clean, minimal aesthetic required careful refinement of both lighting and shader development.
Attention was also given to composition and camera placement to ensure each image clearly communicated the product's distinctive form while preserving the elegant simplicity associated with premium consumer technology.

Summary
This project demonstrates how CGI can elevate product visualisation beyond simple representation, creating imagery that communicates quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail.
By combining physically accurate materials with carefully considered lighting and composition, the final visuals present the product in a way that feels both aspirational and commercially effective.
The techniques explored throughout this study are equally applicable to consumer electronics, lifestyle products and premium product launches where high-quality visual communication plays a key role in shaping customer perception.
